Writing strictly, the narrowest part of the United Kingdom is from Loch Broom, on the west coast of Scotland, to Dornock Firth, on the east coast, a distance of 24 miles. As Loch Broom is nothing but a very narrow inlet, and the same may be 6aid of Dornock Firth, the narrowest part may more fairly be reckoned from Dumbarton, oil the Clyde, to Alloa, on the Firth of Forth, a distance of about 31 miles.
