HARBOUR FINANCES.
FOR YEAR. • IT . ~ CURT AILING NEW WORKS. I COMPLETION OF WESTERN WHARF. An estimate of receipts and expenditure for the year ending September 30, 1931, was considered by the Auckland Harbour Board in committee yesterday afternoon. On the expenditure side |£139,400 has been provided for development works and port equipment, •as against £181,065 'last year. This Includes £16,500 for the Western wharf extension. From loan account : No. •10 there is a sum of £10,000 provided for ' -western reclamation, and £39,300 for the western viaduct completion between •the Prince's and Western wharves. Provision is also made for a refund #of £123,500 from loan account to general account, representing temporary advances. Full particulars of the esti- • mated receipts and payments follow;-!— The expenditure under loan account is on works already authorised and in progress:—Western reclamation, £10,000; Fpeeman'fi Bay viaduct (completion), extern section, £1300; western section, £26,700; lifting span and' dredging, 1 £1.1,300; Mechanics' Bay breastwork (completion of filling), £5100; eastern ■breastwork (section weetward of the vehicular ferry), £12,000., New works provided for but not yet j authorised account for £34,300, made up as follows:—An extension, of 240 ft on the Western wharf, £16,500; dredging and general deepening of the harbour, ,£10,000; paving at Northern wharf, .£800; re-roofing the Central wharf sheds, '£3500; verandahs over the roadway of one-third of the sheds on the Prince's wharf, £3500. Works under general account already authorised include £27,200 for the Port Building, arid £1900 for the electrification of the Rangitoto beacon. ; t 6rdiriary receipte for the year are estmi&tecL at £.362,300, compared with ■ £380,000 last year. ' Other receipts incliide a balance of -£44,285 brought-for-ward, £123,545 due to>be refunded from loan account and several other small itfens, making a total of £541,045. - , The item' interest and sinking fund, |£2i0,600, shows an advance of £14,000 on -last year's figure. The ,board has. budgeted for a credit balance of £91,095.
