WHANGAREI SHOW.
SUCCESSFUL OPENING DAY. FINE QUALITY OF EXHIBITS. LIST OF AWARDS. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star."). WHANGAREI, this day. The 54th annual spring ehow under the auspices of the Whangarei A. and P. Society was opened at Kensington Part to-day. In comparison with previous shows this year's entries showed a general decline. Shorthorn cattle, however, were on the increase, and Jersey- and fat cattle were also penned in increased numbers. Hacks and hunters made a fine display, some of the test jumpers in the North being entered. * The quality of stock exhibited was of a high show standard, proving that the introduction of fertilisers into the North had increased the productivity of the district. One of the biggest Jersey breeders in the North, Mr. A. Christie, is not showing this year on account of ill-health. To-day's Awards. Awards were: — HORSES. Thoroughbreds.—Entire : E.
