HEAVY WITHDRAWALS.

WANGANUI WOOL SALE.; ANOTHER "BUYER'S DAY." OVER HALF CATALOGUE UNSOLD. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)' WANGANUI, this day. There were heavy .withdrawals of offerings at the first Wanganui wool sale of the season to-day. The total offering of 12,000 bales was reduced to little more than half that number, and the total amount sold was only 4900 bales. There was practically a full bench of buyers, and although prices showed no improvement in the Auckland level, competition for the better wools was keen at an average figure ranging round 5d per lb. . Bradford, Germany and France were competitors for the better classes and some of the fine clips went to 6id. Germany seemed in the market for almost everything she could get, and German buying was in consequence heavy. Seeded wools, locks and inferior crutchings seemed to awake little demand, Dominion mills bidding for this class at Id and 2d. A large part of the catalogue was passed, growers apparently anticipating a better demand developing with this season's progress. It was noticeable that some brokers, however, accepted the tone of the market and kept in tune. They earned applause from the buyers' benches on what was essentially a buyers' day. I, Range of Prices. The range of prices, with the prices for the sale of March 31, 1930, is as follows: — Nov. 1930.
