Fighting in Palestine and Egypt. BRITISH OFFICIAL HISTORY, (Rereived 1 p.m.) LONDON, November 4. The official British history of the military operations in Egypt and. Palestine in 1917 and 1918 pays generous tributes to the. Anzacs' participation in the fighting, while regretting their inability to participate in the ultimate victory. Referring to the capture of Aleppo, the record says: ".The British awaited, the arrival of the Australian Mounted Division, .which had marched out from Damascus oh October 27, 1918, 'but had not reached Aleppo.- Before it' arrived at Horns the last shot of the campaign had been fired." Referring to Viscount Allenby's advantages ovfer the enemy, it is stated that "his Australian troops, for example, were men of an original, independent type, not nurtured in-the traditions of British military discipline, and inclined ta be impatient of .them. Yet their reliance upon General Allenby was complete." „
