Matthews lias crashed for the second time in Siam, this\ time between Bangkok and Singora. No details are available as to how the accident occurred.
Flight-Lieutenant C. W. Hill, who was delayed at Constantinople on his solo flight to Australia by the sodden condition of the landing-ground, has reached Bushire, after spending a night in the desert, having lost his bearings.
Flying-Officer C. J. Chabot and Major C. M. Pickthorne arrived at Bagdad last night, leaving again at midnight.
They later arrived at Lingah, in the Persian Gulf, where they were detained by the Persian authorities owing to passport trouble.
"Wing-Commander Kingsford Smith has arrived at Athens from Borne, en route to Australia.
HELIUM IN U.S.A.
NO MONOPOLY WANTED. (lieccivetf 10.30 a.m.) WASHINGTON, October 10. President x.oover said on Friday that the Government was encouraging the exportation of helium gas for lighter-.tliau-air craft rather than hampering it, as was suggested by several English writers who condemned the use of hydrogen in airships.
