WRESTLING.
TO-NIGHT'S CONTESTS. GREAT ENTERTAINMENT EXPECTED. There will be a feast for wrestling fans to-night at the Town Hall. Two professional contests will be staged the major attraction being a return bout between George Walker, British Empire champion, and Tom Lurich, heavy-weight champion of Russia. A four ten minute rounds bout will also be staged between Bill Bayne, of Te Awamutu, and Harbans The match between Walker and Lurich is a special challenge bout, each having a side bet of £50 that he can defeat the other. Walker will endeavour to maintain his unbeaten record, and Lurich to mako good his boast that he will turn the tables on the light-heavy champion, who recently beat him. Poi tents are that it will be the best entertainment of the §eason. In the other attraction another hard and earnest bout can be expected, since both wrsetlers are taking such a golden opportunity of making it a good reference for future bouts. Bayne is known to be a good wrestler, and little more than a year ago he was to have met Sunni for the heavy-weight championship of ijie Dominion, but a serious illness three days before the match prevented the contest eventuating. He is confident of success. Habans Singh, who recently issued a challenge to any heavy-weight in New Zealand, is an Indian wrestler of no mean ability. A number of preliminaries will also precede the two major events.
