PIGEON FLYING.

AUCKLAND SOCIETY. The Auckland Racing Pigeon Society flew their yearling championship for a handsome cup, from Palmerston North, in windy weather. The birds were liberated at 7.30 a.m., and the winning bird homed at 2.37 p.m. The race was so closely contested that Mr. Heed's Rose Boy won by only 0.01 of a yard, six yards separating the first nine birds. The birds wjre liberated by the stationmaster in a westerly wind. The birds homed in good time, the winning bird covering the distance in lh 5Sm 325. Following are the results:—• Mr. R. The birds were liberated by the stationmaster at 9.35 a.m. in a westerly gale, and the tirst bird arrived at Messrs. Irving and Don's loft at 3.53 p.m., winning club and section prizes. The above club contested their yearling championship and challenge .cup race from Palmerston North, an airline distance of 260 miles. The birds encountered a westerly gale. Mr. R. Olliver'S'white cock, Ironside. proved the winner. The race was a hard one, and low velocities were recorded. The winner is the progeny of Mr. H. E. Crowliurst's pure white English importations.
