PONSONBY CRUISING CLUB.

THIRTIETH ANNUAL MEETING.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS.

The thirtieth annual meeting of the Ponsonby Cruising Club was held last evening in the clubhouse, St. Mary's Bay, Mr. A. Thompson presiding. The report submitted by the lion, secretary, Mr. R. Francis, stated that, in addition to the club regatta, four racing fixtures were carried out, all receiving good entries, and close contests were seen. The annual race for the Lipton Cup again gave good competition, resulting in a win for Mane, representing the Tamaki Yacht Club. The decision to limit the annual regatta to club yachts was adhered to, and was a popular one with members and their numerous supporters who helped the club liberally. The clubhouse had been improved and was in good order, thanks to their honorary officers. The balance-sheet, submitted by the hon. treasurer, Mr. H. R. Arthur, showed a very strong financial position. In addition to a credit of £22 18/11 on the year's working, the amount to credit of the Hewson Memorial fund was £104 12/1, reserve fund £203 15/, and building fund £134 15/5, totalling £615 8/6. The assets totalled £753 1/5, with no liabilities. The chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, said they disclosed a very satisfactory state of the club's affairs, the financial position being especially good. The club held the respect and good wishes of the residents of Ponsonby for the past 30 years, and they were very jealous of this. Mr. Thompson referred to the good work of Mr. R. Francis, who was retiring from the position of honorary secretary after three years' service. Reference was also made by Mr. Thompson to the interest taken in the club by Sir Thomas Lipton for the past 20 years. It was resolved, on the chairman's motion, to forward a letter to Sir Thomas appreciating his • sporting efforts to "lift the America Cup."
