RIFLE SHOOTING.
PAEROA DEFENCE CLUB. The annual report of the Paeroa Defence Rifle Club was presented at the annual general meeting last night. The president, Mr. F. C. Hubbard, was in the chair. The report stated that the club had had a most successful year and that it had grown in membership, also that the financial position had improved, -v The balance-sheet showed a surplus of assets of £90 17/0, with no liabilities. It was decided to reduce the subscription and range fees for junior members to half . the ordinary fees. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follow: —Patron, Mr. A. M. Samuel, M.P.; vice-patron, Colonel E. W. Po'rritt; president, Mr. F, C. Hubbard; deputy-presi-dent, Mr. R. I. Wells; secretary and treasurer, Mr. A. A. Jenkinson; auditor, Mr. W. D. Nicholas; handicappers and selectors, the president, deputy-president and secretary; range officer, the president; executive committee, Messrs. P. R. Hubbard, W. A. Reid, E. Turton, A. E. Pearson, H. A, Morrison, R. I. Roberts and L. Morris.
WHANGARJEI MINIATURE CLUB.
In the sixth of the series of shoots for the C. Powell Cup and S. Webb Medals, held by the Whajigarei Miniature Rifle Club, the best scores were;—M. Stewart, 86, handicap 2, total. 88; H. Ashton, 86, 2—88; J. Fisher, 85, 3—88; A. D. Jack, 85, 3—88; S. Withers, 82, 6—88;. E. James, 83, 5—88; B. Roberts, 86,, ; N. C. Shepherd, 86, scratch—B6 ; E. A. McKinley, 82, 4 —86.
