BORROWED A LOCOMOTIVE.

J. E. Scqtt borrowed a £10,000 Southern Eaiiroad locomotive last July 4 to go to Birmingham, U.S.A. He was fined £10 for. a simple larceny on a plea of guilty to stealing the engine. Testimony was that Scott approached the engine early on the morning of the fourth and climbing aboarcf, headed west. He knew nothing about driving a locomotive, but he wanted to go places. The engine was stopped by a safety device after it got on to the main line Eaiiroad employees said Scott told them he r had started to Birmingham. He admitted he was drinking at the time. He was placed on twelve months' probation in addition to his fine.
