LECTURE AT GOSPEL HALL.
v> Mr. J. *-W. Clapham,, lecturing at the Gospel Hall, Howe Street, last evening, gave an interesting account of his experiences as a missionary in Palestine. He was iQ Jerusalem when the Arab-Jewish riot Wot place, which created great consterna- . J2JP 1 - ¥ r - Clapham stated that -in Jaffa, * toe city of yells, bells and smells," missionary effort had been most fruitful, with we result that a church had been built. «e hopes to return to his work shortly, •is idea being to labour amongst the : Armenians in Northern Palestine. Evidence of "the unchanging East" was given '• by,the lecturer, who said thora was hardly a. custom mentioned' in the Bible' that .could not be seen in Palestine. at the ■present day. .' ■ '• ■
