CIRCULAR ROUTE.
SANDRINGHAM-MT. ALBERT.-
SUGGESTION REJECTED,
Residents and ratepayers in the vicinity of Mount. Albert tram terminus have proposed to the Auckland Transport Board that when the Sandringham tramline extension is continued to Vincent Road it should be continued to Mount Richardson Road or to Mount Albert terminus. "This would provide a circular route to the city," stated the letter.
Reporting 01/ the suggestion, the manager, Mr. A. E. Ford, stated that the extension would involve considerable outlay of capital, and in his opinion the revenue derived would he insufficient to pay capital charges, "let alone working expenses." Circular routing of this kind was only justified when constructed in districts where there was considerable population.' He could not recommend the further extension/of the Sandringham Road route to Mount Albert terminus or along Vincent Road into the Richardson Road at the present time. The manager's report was adopted.
