During- August gross sales ' aiuounted to £0054, compared 'witli ,£534,5 (or the corresponding' month of last-year., The sales for the five months ended: " August 31, were £32,9.35 -.as against £29,345 for the corresponding •period of 1929. ; , In his report on the progress of work during the past month, the engineer (Mr. F. J. H. Wilson) stated that additional street lamps ljad been erected in Henderson and New. Lynn. The summary of consumers showed? the total connections in the board's area as 7751, including 1255 water heaters, 907 stoves, and 552 milking and industrial motors. During August 49 new consumers were added to the service. Members expressed satisfaction at the progress the board was making despite the period of depression and the trouble that it had been subjected to sine© the failure of Arapuni. Tlie chairman and Mr. A. J. Algie were appointed to represent the board at the conference on September 17 to consider the advisability of establishing a comyiercial airport for Auckland. The delegates were instructed not to involve the board in any financial liability over the project.
