LADY COURT AND LUSOMA PLEASE
The No'.'3 grass track at-Ellerslie, on which all the galloping was done this morning, was a bit on the heavy side, and consequently the times recorded were not fast. One of the most impressive sprints was that done by the Avondale Stakes candidate Bonny ea m W. Patterson's stable. She reeled off thiee furlongs in 38 3-ss, AVhich was a particularly good effort, considering the state of ■ Tlie first pair out were Foot Jtule and 'Laud -Measure, who completed a sixfurlongs task in 1.22, the former showing 'up best. , The Avondale Cup ; candidate Lager Rose, with J. Cammick in the saddle, completed a round in 1,60 4-5, the last six furlongs taking 1.26. She moved smoothly throughout, iand was never oil the bit. , - ,■,■'•.•>. -:.-;:• ■"- Royal Menu was a shade m front ot Informant over four furlongs ill 54 2-ss. Kawainga and Sir Moncl ran home from the five-furlongs post in 1.19 1-5, finishing on- terms. Lusoma. and Lady Court jumped away together at the six-furlongs post, and after running the first three furlongs in 38 3-5s completed their task in 1.20. Lady Court was finishing on best at the end,' but Lusoma also, went well. Hannibal was not doing his best to run six furlongs in 1.23 3-5. This gelding is in great order. Great Emblem strode over five furlongs in 1.14 4-5, and Grand Spirit went a furlong further in 1.23. The Fox and.-New Boy were sent five furlongs, running the first two in 25s and the full distance in 1.7 3-5. There was little "between them at the finish.
Stimulant ■ ran home from the fivefurlongs peg in 1.12 2-5, doing it easily. Gold Money ran the first three of six furlongs in 39 2-ss, and finished up her task in 1.21. She was loafing at the finish, taking 54 3-5s for the last halfmile.
Ruling King was allotted a similar task, which he completed in 1.25 2-5.'
Catoma and Operatic were companions over six furlongs, Tunning the first three in .39 2-5s and the full distance in 1.21. Catoma was doing best at the finish.
Tambourine and Good Idea took 1.11 4-5 to cover five furlongs.
Bonnylea and Sub-Editor jumped off together at the three-furlongs peg, but the former, who began very quickly, was soon in front, and beat her companion by several lengths in 38 3-ss. SubEditor's time "was 41 3-ss.'
Wild Country was better than Manawheuua ever a similar distance, which took 39 3-ss. - _
Bed Lion began quicker than Neil, Principal and Patutahi, and led them throughout over six furlongs, ran in 1.24. At the finish the quartet were well strung out, there being over seven seconds between Eed Lion and Patutahi, who finished last.
Llauore and Currajong completed five furlongs in 1.7 4-5, both doing their work nicely. " .
Tetrachate was timed to run four furlongs in 53 4-ss. Speedfast and Imperial Prince did a similar task, but wei'fe not timed.
Karangapai was in front of Frothblower at the end of six furlongs, which took 1.22 2-5, while Prince Amans was in front of Brampton over a similar journey in 1.2G 2-5. * The two-year-olds Herbie, "Royal Gallant and United finished in that order at the conclusion of a half-mile sprint run in 545. Gay Cockade.-who began slowly from the sever.-furlongs peg, ran his last six furlongs in 1.21. ; Spring Song and Gay Idea were together at the end of. half, a mile in 55 4-ss. Escalus and Good .Boy were the only two to gallop on the sand, the pair running home from the six-furlongs , post in 1.22 2-5. •*;' \ The Jumpers. Respirator (T. Williams) gave a safe display over a couple of hurdles. k Carlaris (Hall), Diamond Queen (Butler) and Clockwork (Olive) started off together to indulge in a schooling bout. , Clockwork, who has only been up a short time, was pulled off after jumping four hurdles, Carlaris and .Diamond. Queen continuing on and jumping six fences, Carlaris finishing in front of Diamond Queen, who also shaped well. -tKamehameha (I. Williams) and Waltzer (E. Olive;., kept .together while negotiating four hurdles.
Sir Archie (D. Craddock) was a shade in front ox Qu:ncoiua (Butler) at the last of four fences, both jumping in good style. •. ■ l ,■' ■'
