open through- moderate tariffs the reci- / procal market abroad would be-endan- '■; gered. ■ The delegation, representing the Co-operative Wholesale Society of England, wa3 presented to President Hoover Iby the British Ambassador, Sir .Ronald Lindsay and Mr. Herbert Bodman, president of the New York Produce Exchange, and included Mr. Robert Fleming and Mr. Joseph Bradshaw, directors of .the society. In recent years,, the visitors told the President, enormous political pressure ihad been put upon English merchants to buy Empire goods.
