POLICE COURT NEWS.
THREE REMANDS GRANTED,
Charged with stealing from a vessel on August 24, oiie whistle, a pair of trousers, a pair of braces, and. two keys, the property of Frederick Savage, Mati Kura, alias Jack Mokara, pleaded guilty in the Police; Court this morning and was t remanded for sentence until September Jack Martron, a Belgian cook, aged 39, and Harry Jewel Clayton, a ropemaker, aged 22, who were charged with stealing at Henderson on August 10, a motor car radiator, valued at £3 10/, the property of Joseph Antonio, were remanded until September 1. Chief Detective Hammond said that Mr. J. J. Sullivan, who was to appear for them, had gone to Wellington. The accused wanted to get the case over, but 'Mr. Sullivan asked for a remand until Monday. This was granted by Mr., F. K. Hunt, S.M.
Eleven charges of false pretences were preferred against Augustus Samuel Hodgson, who was remanded for a fortnight. It was alleged that he obtained sums of money totalling £20 9/9, from Otto J. Thedens. Hodgson was released oil £25 bail.
