PETROL ECONOMY TEST.

The North Shore Motor Cycle Club held a petrol economy tent on Sunday from Auckland to Pukekolie and bark. There were over fifteen entries. IL'e winner was P. Fletcher, riding a 2} h.p. Royal Enfield. His mileage works out at the rate of 234 per gallon.

M. Robinson was second, riding a 3.4'5 h.p., 0.h.v., Eoyal Enfield, mileage 204 per gallon. The two winning machines were standard makes. The carburettors were skilfully and carefully tuned. After the event the machines were handed over to the officials- of the club and they are to be tested by an outside engineer to see that they are standard in every detail.

Tlie . amazing mileage of 234 to the gallon is claimed as a Xew Zealand record, and it is thought that it is also a world record.
