HOCKEY AT WHANGAREI.

In the Whangarei hockey competition on Saturday Mata, the champions, "were fully extended by Manngakaramea, winning after a scoreless first half by the only goal, scored by A. Sloane. Mangapai beat Wesley by 6 goals to 1. Scorers for llangapai ■were: A. Byles (4), R. McAllister and F, Draffin. Wesley's only goal "was shot by W. Kerr,
OPOTIKI CLUB,
There were 22 competitors in a mixed foursome that was played on the Opotiki golf links on Saturday afternoon. The best scores -were as follow: Mrs. G. Vanstone and C. Gordon, 101—27—7 i; Miss L. Wilson and E. A. Bunkall, 93—23—75; Miss B. Short and R. M. Todd, 90—15—77.
In a men's bogey handicap the best scores were: G. A. Dawson, handicap 15, 1 down • A. H. Hilford, U. 2 down; P. J. Short 12 2 down; W. J. Scott, 15, 2 down; c! g' Koe, 20, 2 down.
