The Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, ,6ent the following message to the King on behalf of the Government and people of New Zealand: —

"I beg to express to Your Majesty "with my humble duty the great interest which is felt in the announcement of the birth of a daughter to Her Royal Highness the Duchess of York and to offer the respectful congratulations t>f Your Majesty's subjects in this Dominion on the happy event."
