STOLE A BICYCLE.
MAGISTRATE ADJOURNS CASE "TOO MUCH OF IT GOING ON." . A young man, Victor Fiori, was charged in the Police Court this morning with stealing a bicycle valued at £4 10/. . The offence was committed at New-Lynn on June 4. Fiori pleaded guilty; and Sub-Inspector Shanahan said that a boy left his Dike undeivthe railway bridge at New Lynn while he proceeded to school" in the train. Returning ill the evening the boy found that his bike was gone. Six days later ,he saw .'iccused riding it along the Great North Road. He asked someone'on a motor cycle to give chase. When caught accused said lie had found t'ho bike on. the Great North Road.' It had been camouflaged somewhat. Mr. F. Jordan, who appeared for Fiori, said his client saw the bike near the New Lynn Council Chambers on tlie morning of June 4. Returning that evening he noticed that the bicycle was still there and. picked it up and took it home.- He did some work to the bike, counsel, admitted, but added that it was hot with the intention of deceiving anyone- , ... Mr. F. Iv. Hunt, S.M.: Do you. believe that story?—Well-I advise* 1 , him ,to plead guilty.' Constable' Boag . said that there was too much of this bicycle stealing in the districts and it was time that something was dpne to stop it. Mir. Jordan made application for the name ..to ,be suppressed, but Mr. Hunt would not consent. The case was Adjourned for six months.
