IDLE AND DISORDERLY.
THREE MEN CHARGE© IN
COURT
DRINKING METHYLATED SPIRITS,
Three men, James Russell Hunter, builder's labourer, aged 44, Robert Ross, alias Joseph Hunter Montgomery, labourer, SS, and William Yance Aitken, alias William Fort, labourer, 33, appeared in the Police Court this morning and all pleaded guilty to being idle and disorderly without sufficient means of support. ' Constable Hickey said that at 11.30 yesterday he found the three men in the Domain at the back of Carlaw Park. They had a bottle of methylated spirits and Hunter and Ross admitted that they had been partaking of the spirits. Complaints had been laid about the men, who had been frequenting the Domain for some weeks. r Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M.: I see that two of them have aliases. Staff-Major Holmes said that Hunter and Ross had work to go to. In his opinion, however, Aitken needed a clean up. "I only grew this beard because I had a bad face," said Aitken, stroking the growth. Hunter and Ross were convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called on within six months. "And you." said Mr. Hunt, addressing Aitken, "will be remanded for a week for sentence. That will give them a chance to get you cleaned up."
