On Saturday at the EHerslie racecourse the Auckland Amateur and Cycle Club held another of its -weekly meetings for the cross-country season. Although the atmospheric conditions were not the best, the track offered an excellent footing and the times registered -were very good. Large fields lined ,up in each of the events, -which were carried out with the usual enthusiasm. As time was growing late competitors did not compete for the Wade discus throw competition. After the events, when tht: competitors were having afternoon tea, Mr. W. Morton, the president of the club, presented the prizes won at the meeting. Mr: W. Stewart, sen., on behalf of the members, took the opportunity to present Mr. Morton with a clock for-his esteemed services. Detailed results: ; — W.CEIkG -HANDICAP. (75yds.) First Heat.— J. W. Turnbull 1, J. R. Green 2, D. Parsons 3. Time, Bs. Won by inches, a foot between second and third. Second Heat.—R. Willey 1, H. Eoper 2, K. S. Stewart 3. Time, Bs. Inches only separated the placed men. Third Heat. —P. L. Adams 1, V. Walker 2, N. F. Funnell 3. . Time, 7 4-ss. Final. —R. S. Stewart 1, F. l>. Adams 2, J. W. Tutnbull 3. Time, 7.455. Won by a foot, with six inches ■- between second and third.

Beautiful weather Teigned for the , Wellington A and B grade provincial * crosscountry championships held at Hutt Park "to-day.- • In- the A grade there were 35 starters, and 49 in B grade. The A grade race proved to be a personal triumph for last-year's enampion) A..L. Stevens, wno took the lead at the end of the first halfmile, "and led throughout. The further he went the greater became his lead. He eventually won by 200 yards. There was much altering of places during the progress of the race, and a surprise packet. L. Watson, after keeping second place for most of the journey, was eventually displaced by' Barclay. Watson lasted long enough to beat C. McCarthy for .third place. Fred. Silver, expected to play a prominent part, ran off form and could not do better than finish in twelfth place. Brooklyn (with Barclay second, Bibby seventh, Prosser eighth,. and Pederson Bros., dead heat, niath) retained the team'e championship. j Result:— j A. L. Stevens, 3?m 44s 1 A.
