THE COURSE DIFFICULT.

WELLINGTON, this day.
The Hutt Golf Club's winter cup tourney opened yesterday. The best round on the reconstructed course was 79, ■ and there were only two of these, D. • O. Whyte and M. Duncan. Whyte headed the qualifying list with 160—SI and 79. Next was Rana Wagg (Hutt Club) with 162 (two 81's), then came Duncan with 79 and 85. Others to qualify were: D. C. Collins, H. K. Adamson, T R. McGregor, P. Wagg, W. G. Fisher, R. O. Chesney, R. G. Hayward, W. G. Martin, J. Martin, C. Denton, A. Warren, Captain Harland, R. L. Ingram. The last seven were all over 180,
