(By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.")

CHRISTCHURCH, this day.

[Ambition led Tamahine out of the straight, wliile turning into the hack stretch Fifa, Oval and "White Satin were at the head of the others. With half the journey gone the-order of the .leaders was unchanged, while Home Voyage and All Peters also joined in. Tamahine broke two furlongs from jhome, leaving Ambition and Fifa well clear of White Satin, with All Peters and Home Voyage next. In a good finish Amhition hung on long enough to heat Fifa by a head. Maxegin, finishing fast, was three lengths away, with Home Vovaere two lengths further hack. Times: 3.31 2-5, 3.31 3-5, 3.25 4-5. The first-named trio were in line at the end of half a mile, with Sodium, Erin's Pointer and Royal Silk next. There was no change till three •furlongs from home, where Erin's Pointer displaced Captain Wrack in thifd place. George Rey led into the straight, and just stalled off Sodium by . a head. Morrison was two lengths away ' third, with Glenrossie, who finished fast, ■ fourth, and Royal Silk next. Times: 2.50 2-5, 2.50 3-5, 2.51 1-5. Pro Rata Destroyed. « / '. At the end of a furlong Pluto had joined Pageant in the lead, and a little fur- ; ther on Pluto ran to the front. He was three lengths clear of Pageant at the end of half a mile, with Omaha, Muriel de Oro, and Great Logan next. Pluto mad increased his advantage to five lengths at the end of six furlongs, and he still had the same advantage at the start of the last lap, where Muriel de Oro was in second place. Pluto was two lengths in front of Muriel de Oro . at the home turn, with Great Logan and Jean McElwyn handy, while Imprint was closing tip fast. Pluto , held his place in the straight and won ' Iby two lengths from Imprint, who beat Muriel de Oro by a length. Jean McElwyn was half a length away, with " Great Logan next. Times, 4.31 3-5, ' 4.28, 4.32 3-5. Pluto made a one-horse /race of it, taking the lead early, and .'leading a procession for the rest of the "way. Going along tlic back Tactless and Apex were still showing the way to Sunchild, with a big bunch just behind. Tactless was beaten three furlongs from home, Sunehil joining Apex in the lead with Nelson McElwyn and Hostess heading the others. Aleron moved up fast at this stage. Sunchild had the • measure of Apex one hundred yards s from the post, but he had to be driven out to stall off Akron's late rush by a head. Apex was two lengths away, with Nelson McElwyn next. Sunchild was little fancied and paid a solid dividend. Times, 4.3G, 4.35, 4.5, 4.39. The Big Trot.
