SEAMEN'S PROTEST.
ACCIDENT COMPENSATION.
SCHEME TO REDUCE WAGES.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) j WELLINGTON, Wednesday. A largely-attended meeting of the Federated Seanlen's Union yesterday considered the report of the commission which reported on statutes relating to compensation for accidents to workers. The meeting carried a resolution recording an emphatic protest against the proposal in clause 7, whereby it is proposed to reduce the Weekly payments of single seamen who are thrown out of employment as a result of accident, from £4 to £3 per week, it being considered this contained within it a scheme to reduce wages and divide the membership into two groups of married and single men. f -
