GOLD NUGGET FOUND.
Opossum Trapper's Luck Near
Bendigo.
RUSH FOR LOCALITY,
MELBOURNE, August 3.
An opossum trapper, Mr. Arthur Goltz, picked up a nugget of gold weighing about 20 ounces two days ago in a forest reserve near Taniagulla, 32 miles from Bendigo. The neighbourhood formerly was famous for rich claims from which fortunes were won.
Mr. Goltz was on his way home from a trapping excursion when he noticed the gold showing.
A rush for the locality has now set in. Motor cars, lorries and horsedrawn vehicles, all loaded with men supplies with picks and axes, are being, frantically driven to the spot. Hundreds of virgin ground are available.
