■WAJMAEEsTO I'TEE HE CALLED. (l?rom Our Chra Correspondent.) RAETIHI,' Friday. At the meeting- of the Kaetihi Borough Council last night the deputyMayor, Mr. W. Harris, presiding, a resolution expressing' appreciation of the work of the late Sir Joseph Ward and sincere sympathy with -the bereaved family "was passed. The deputy-Mayor .said the Waimarino district was specially indebted to Sir Joseph Ward, for when -the great fire-in 1918 swept -the district a, deputation waited upon Sir Joseph, who 'was then' Treasurer. They received a most sympathetic hearing and a supbstantial grant and loan. The members of the; Fire Belief Association would never for--get ithe sympathy and assistance winch they received. Messrs. Ashwell and G. Anderson and: others endorsed these remarks. On the motion of, the deputy-Mayor it was resolved that the council adjourn till after the funeral. \ |
