STANDBY PLANTS.
WAIKATO RECOMMENDATION. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Thursday, ' The opinion that no great difficulty would be experienced in meeting the demand before the proposed new steam plants had been installed was expressed at & meeting of the Central Electric Power , Board by the chairman, Mr. T; Hintoii/ ( . ' Mr* W. C, George criticised the proposal to erect another steam plant at Auckland. Coal would cost 21/3 at Auckland, ha said, whereas it GoUld be supplied at Huntly at a cost of 17/ ft ton. • ' . A resolution Was passed urging the Public Works Department to do its beet to put into" immediate use any standby plants available. It Was further decided to urge upon the Government the necessity for expediting the erection of the promised 15,000 kw. steam plant at' Huntly. The board has invited power boards and other bodies interested to attend a conference in Hamilton on Friday.
