PUZZLES FOR ALL.

INSTRUCTIVE, ' INTERESTING. "STAR'S" NEW COMPETITION. SPENDING WINTER EVENINGS. Hosts of letters expressing appreciation, showing great interest, and like the proverbial Oliver Twist, asking for more, all speak with one voice as to the popularity of tho "Star's" new fireside competition. Another section will appear to-morrow. Requests have been received from those, who, by some unexplained misfortune missed the first sections, to have them supplied. They are not content to enter the competition at the point where they could take the puzzles out of an available "Star." They will run no risk of missing any opportunity. Nor is the reason far to seek. Those who have interested themselves in the puzzles Avill know the allurement there is in the competition. They know the zest of the game. They see the prize within reach. They are the initiated, and the others, who started late, are trying to make up lost ground. ■ One of the puzzles to-morrow carries -with it 500 points, so it is very important. A good many objects beginning with the letter "M" are hidden in the diagram which will appear, and the task is to find as many of them as possible. Everybody knows.how interesting it is to take hold.of a diagram puzzle like the one in question, and turn it this way, then back that -way,, then upside down, and then to squint at it with one eye shut. We have all done it. It is difficult to disentangle one object from the other, but that is the special interest of such a puzzle. One point of importance is that the rules given at the very beginning must be followed exactly, and failure to comply with them may mean that all the work of a competitor will be disqualified. ■
