A lATE START.
SUSPENSION OF MOORE
The crowd at Carlaw Park on Saturday was greatly puzzled when City and Ponsonby failed to take the field at the appointed hour for the principal game of the day. The reason for the late start, however, was explained by the fact that Ponsonby desired to play Moore, who last season was suspended for using alleged insulting language to a referee. Moore did'not appear to explain the incident to the authorities, and his suspension, it is understood, still holds good. A crisis arose, it is stated, when the western suburbs captain included Moore in the team list, and refused to strip for action unless the suspended member was allowed to play. Ultimately the difficulty was smoothed over by the chairman of the Management Committee of the League, Mr. George Rhodes, and the president, Mr. James Carlaw, who agreed that Moore's case should be considered next Wednesday night.
