"JELLICOE" BOATS.

LOSING THEIR APPEAL? SANDERS CUP CONTEST. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. The type of boat used in the Sanders Cup contests has not met with the universal approval of all yachtsmen in New Zealand. It is felt in some quarters that it would be better to use a boat which is not designed solely for racing purposes, and which could be utilised for pleasure cruising. The present boat, the "Jellicoe" 14ft type, is stated to be quickly losing its former appeal, and in order to consider the question of making the contests popular and generally improving the rules, a special meeting of the Wellington Yacht and Motor Boat Association was held. It was decided to propose that a Dominion conference be called during July, provided that the other associa" tions were in agreement. The association would convene the meeting, which would be called for the purpose of discussing all aspects of the Sanders Cup contest.
