THREE USEFUL HINTS.
It is easy to- make sauce without lumps; make roux, and instead of adding milk or stock gradually, according to theory, pour on required amount, as quickly as possible whilst roux-is boiling fast. Stir till thick. The sauce will be beautifully smooth. To prevent ink spreading on newspaper competitions, well warm paper before writing, and it will be clear and not smudge. a To keep nursery walls free from finger marks, paint half Avay with clear varnish. They /pan then be sponged like tiles. To sweep a room without raising a dust rub the hair broom over with a rag sprinkled with kerosene. It is surprising how little dust will rise. The broom collects it as it sweeps. To clean the broom rub it on the grass once or twi:c and it will be as clean as new.* This method does not apply to carpet brooms.
