DOCTOR SHOT.
WOMAN'S FRENZIED ACT. FAILED TO SAVE SON. Because a doctor had failed to save the life of her 20-year-old son, a mother fired five revolver shots at him in a street or Monte Carlo. He fell badly wounded. The drama was enacted at 4 o'clock in the Boulevard du Prince Pierre, which was crowded at the time. Dr. Gibelli, a well-known physician of Monaco, was returning home after visiting a patient, when a well-dressed woman, about 40 years of age, stepped in front of Without saying a word, she fired five shots in his direction. Dr. Gibelli was seriously wounded by three of the bullets, and fell unconscious on the pavement. A panic ensued on the Boulevard. Some civilians seized the woman and disarmed her, while others attended to the injured man. who was immediately removed to hospital. At police headquarters ■ the woman said she was Mme. Calloni, residing at Monte Carlo. She coolly explained that she was convinced that she had been justified in trying to kill the practitioner, who had not looked after her son when he was seriously ill. , , . He ''had killed the young man by his negligence,'' she added. The woman, who showed no sign ot excitement, added that after the death of her sou she had brought an action against the doctor, but the investigating magistrate had decided that there was no case. , , There is little hope of saving the doctors life.
