He is believed to be connected with a Manchester business house with ofncesin Pall Mall. His age was about 34. He is said to have had a cheerful disposition, and on previous visits he was frequently heard singing in his room. The weapon from which the shot was fired has a barrel which can be unscrewed, [n that way the gun could easily be carried in a case without attracting attention. The room is in an isolated part of the hotel, and the shot was not heard by anyone. Mr. V. A. Hughes, of Higher Broughton. Manchester, a relative of the dead man. told the "Sunday Chronicle" that he knew hardiy anything about him. except that he occasionally came to Manchester and stayed at the Midland Hotel.
