THE LABOUR PARTY.
In view of the Labour party conference held in Wellington last week, 'it is interesting to note that the membership of the Labour party is reported to be 4000 individual members and 43,000 members of affiliated trades unions. Many of these members of the affiliated unions are undoubtedly supporters of the Reform and United parties. But even the figure given—43,ooo—is small in comparison with the number (104,000) of trade unionists in Now Zealand. It is .significant that considerably fewer than half the trade unionists are even affiliated to the "Labour" party. What claim has that party, then, to monopolise the name "Labour"?" WAG]-: WORKER.
