MT. ROSKILL RATEPAYERS.
BOBOUGH FINANCE REVIEWED ROAD LOAX RECOMMEXDED. The annual meeting of ratepayers was held last night at Mount Roskill. Mr. E. F. Jones, chairman or the Road Board, presided. The report showed that the district was in a sound financial position. The ratf>s struck for the year ended on March 31 last, amounted to £25,876. and £21.142 had been received. The expenditure on. public works was £13.914, £11.244 being spent on roads and £2(370 on footpaths. The net public debt of the district was £104,602. The board paid £2661 to the Hospital Board as the district levy for ohe year. The general fund is in credit £469. The Chairman told the meeting about the board's proposal to concrete the Three Kings Road in the near future if the ratepayers sanctioned a loan of £17,000 for it. He said he hoped they wouid, for as soon as this was done the tram, service would be extended along that road from Mount Eden boundary to Mount Albert Road. Questions relating to road maintenance, drainage, water, etc., were put to the chairman and answered by Mr. S. I. Goodall, chairman of the finance committee, and Mr. E. A. Pearce, chairman of the works: committee. In moving a vote of thanks to the board for its services, Mr. J. J. Preston paid a tribute to all the members and to the staff. The resolution was seconded •by Mrs. Hayr, and carried with applause.
