HOPELESS INVALID'S DEATH.

Mrs. Emily Elspeth Smith, aged 52. was found dead at her residence at 4, Ariki Street, Grey Lynn, yesterday morning. At an inquest held by Mr. F. K. Hunt. S.M., a verdict that Mrs. Smith committed suicide while in a state of mental distress, owing to continued illness, was returned. Evidence that Mrs. Smith had been practically an invalid for seven years was given by the husband. His wife was at times despondent, but she was in her usual state of health yesterday morning , .
