OLD THAMES BOYS.

FLOURISHING- ASSOCIATION. LAEGER MEMBERSHIP WANTED. The annual meeting, of the Old Thames Boys' Association -was held in the Druids' Hall, East Street, Mr. John Farrell presiding. The committee, in its report, said the membership totalled 173, including five life members. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £837 6/, of which £03 16/1 was in the Auckland Savings Bank and the balance invested. Mr. Farrell said they had every reason to be satisfied with the position. Their one weak spot was a lack of membership. There were many old Thames boys in Auckland who did not trouble to join the association. Some were quite in sympathy with the aims and objects of the association, and he thought if they were circularised or approached by the executive a number might be willing to join. ' " The election of officers for 1930 resulted as follows: Patron, Hon. Sir James Parr; vice-patron, Mr. W. Eddowes; president, Mr. W Blomfield; vice-presidents,. Messrs. T. Aitken, J. Farrell, B. M. Myers, J. H. Reed, F Blomfield, D. Wilson and Capt. R. H. Gibbons; hon. secretary and treasurer, M?. P. L. Laycock; hon. auditor. Mr. A. Burns, jun.; musical director, Mr. Fred Blomfield; committee, Messrs. A. Williams, M. Paul, E. E. Gibbons; A. Hill, J. James, A. Moiloy.S. Skeen, J. Smith, W. J. Haverfleld, T. Mam, W McDonnell, A. Burns, jun., A. White, H. Driver and W. A. Wilkinson. It -was decided to hold re-unions on May 24, July 12, September 6 and October 18. A recommendation was carried "That the incoming committee arrange a ladies' evening during the winter and that invitations be sent to members of the Thames Old Girls' Association." The annual subscription was fixed at 10/, and an extra charge is to be made on ladies' night. Votes of thanks were accorded all who contributed to the musical programmes, Mr. Fred Blomfield, Mr. P. L. Laycock and the chairman.
