OTAHUHU BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The Otahuhu Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. H. T. Clements, presiding. Band Subsidy—A subsidy of £25 was granted to the Auckland Mounted Rifles Band. . _ Bus Fare.—The Tamaki Progressive League wrote asking the council to oppose the increase in bus fares, and assured the council of support. Hockey Ground. —A request from the Otahuhu Hockey Club for the provision of a hockey ground in Otahuhu was referred to the Parks Committee. Streets Collection. —Friday, September 12/ has been allotted to the New Zealand Society for the Protection of Women and Children and the Community Sunshine League for a combined street collection. Valuation of Borough.—The Valuation Department, in reply to the council's request for a re-valuation said it could not recommend the revision this year, as other districts were in more urgent need. Traffic Inspector.—The Combined Traffic Committee advised the council that, Inspector Fletcher had resigned and that Mr. Allen Breed was unanimously appointed inspector out of ISO applications.
