HAUL BY POLICE.
GOODS AND CLOTHING. TRACKS FOLLOWED TO HOME. DISCOVERY IN CAVES. FIVE PEOPLE CHARGED. {By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DARGAVILLE, tliis day. Groceries valued at £100, clothing, slieepskins, mirrors and blankers distributed round tlie floor, gave the interior of the Dargaville Police Court the appearance of a well-stocked country store to-day. Peter Stewart, a half-caste, was charged with counselling and procuring arson, breaking and entering and receiving goods known to bo stolen from the store of Phillip Maticlx. James Toko, John Tewaete, Sam Dick, and Rebecca Stewart were charged with entering the house of Henry H. Wilson and stealing goods valued at £30. The police stated that Stewart lived at Wairere, below the Kai Iwi lakes, about eight miles from Marapui. Tracks were followed to Stewart's home, and several caves were found containing goods. Stewart pleaded guilty to three charges. The accused were remanded to appear to-morrow. A further charge will be preferred against Stewart.
