OTAHUHU BRIDGE.
DEPUTATION TO MINISTER. MINOR SCHEME URGED. An Otahuliu deputation, Messrs. W. J. Hall, F. Andrews, A. Iv. Murray and T. H. Chapman, waited upon the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. E. A. Ransom, this morning, and urged that a minor scheme for a new bridge on the main road near Otahuhu should be adopted. It was explained that there were two bridge schemes, one for a. new bridge to cost £9377, and the other to widen the present bridge at a cost of £5154. The minor scheme had the support of the Main Highway Board, but the Manukau County Council and Otahuhu Borough Council favoured the major scheme. The deputation urged the minor scheme. The Minister said that personally he was in favour of the minor scheme. He would make representations to the Highways Board that the matter should be treated as urgent.
