CAR CATCHES FIRE.

Kaye Don Fails in Attempt to Create Record. SUPER-CHARGER DAMAGEDI NEW YORK, March 18. Mr. Kaye Don, the English racing motorist, at Daytona Beach, Florida, yesterday gave a crowd of onlookers a demonstration of his exceptional tenacity. Mr. Don continued his persistent attempt to break Sir Henry Segrave's speed record of 231.302 miles an hour in Iris ear Silver Bullet, but could not complete the course owing to fire in the super-charger. Finally the car came to a standstill and could not be moved.

When the accumulated petrol and oil beneath the hood caught fire a mechanic ran up . immediately and suppressed the flames, but the super-charger had been rendered useless. A now one will be installed without delay and Mr. Don hopes to make another attempt to-day.
