RUGBY FOOTBALL.
COLLEGE RIFLES CLUB. The annual meeting of the College Rifles Rugby Football Club was held last evening, the president, Colonel T. H. Dawson, presiding over an attendance Of 60. Tlie annual report reviewed the progress of the club last season, particularly in the lower grades, and held out excellent prospects of success this winter. The balancesheet showed the finances of the club to be in a satisfactory position. The election of officers resulted as follows :—Patron, Mr. C. T. Major; president, Colonel T. H. Dawson; club captain. Mr. R. Fogarty; secretary, Mr. YV. S. Kirk; assistant secretary. Mr. A. Thompson; treasurer, Mr. E. Cheal; management committee, Messrs. G. Francis. M. Noakes, S. Souter. B. Robinson, M. Camplin and J. Graham; hon. auditor. Mr. S. Souter; delegates to the Auckland Rugby Union, Messrs. H. Frost, F. E. Sutherland and Colonel Dawson; delegate to the Junior Management Board, Mr. A. Tilly.
NORTH SHORE CLOT.
The annual meeting of the North Shore Rugby Football Club was held in the Masonic Hall, Devonport. Mr. G. Reid presided over a fair attendance. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: —Patron, Sir. E. Aldridge; president, Major Redmond : vice-presidents, same as last year; secretary, Mr. H. R. Newman; treasurer, Mr. YV. J. Simpson;
management committee, Messrs. G. Sinclair, YV. O'Brien, R. Yates, A. Styles, I. Souter, G. Beere and C. Joyce; selection committee, Messrs. J. Dorrington. YV. O'Brien, and 11. Jackson; delegates to Auckland Rugby Union, Messrs. Oram. Sinclair and O'Brien ; delegate to Junior Advisory Board, Major Redmond.
The retiring president, Mr. G. Reid, was elected a life member of the club.
During the evening, Mr. H. Frost, chairman of the Auckland Rugby Union, addressed the meeting. It was decided to commence training, providing the ground was ready, on Saturday, March 29. OTAHUHU CLUB. The annual general meeting of the Otaliuhu Rugby Union Football Club was held in the Public Hall last evening. Mr. Iv. O'Hara presided over a very good attendance of oast as well as new members. Mr. H. W. Trott and Mr. T. YV. Maben, chairman and secretary respectively of the Auckland Rugby Union, were present. During the evening Mr. Trott gave an address to the members on the game, which he considered was the finest in the world. He received a most attentive and appreciative hearing.
The annunl report was the best sinc«i the club's inception. The outstanding feature of the report was the winning of the fourth grade championship in he Auckland Rugby Union competition last season. As in the previous season, the club was fourth in the Southland Shield, with an average of 83.338. The balance sheet showed that the assets exceeded the liabilities by £195 1/10.
On the motion of Mr. W. K. O'Hara rule 3 was amended to read : "That the annual subscription for players over the age of IS Tears should be five shillings'; for players'under the age of IS years and honorary members the subscription should be two shillings and sixpence; life members should be free.
The following were elected to hold office during the coming season: Patron. Dr. A. M. Ross; president, Mr. G. H. M. Muir ; vice-presidents, last year's financial vicepresidents were re-elected and the incoming committee was given power to add; club captain, Mr. W. K. O'Hara ; secretary, Mr. P. P. Arnold : treasurer, Mr. P. R. White; committee, Messrs. R. Nelson, L. C. Day, G. White, S. Clark, D. Hill; delegates to the Auckland Rugby Union, Messrs. J. 11. M. Muir, P. P. Arnold, Murdoch ; representative 011 the junior advisory board, Mr. R. Nelson ; auditor, Mr. A. G. White ; selection committee, until captains and coaches are appointed, Messrs. W. R. O'Hara, F. P. Arnold and R. Nelson. RUGBY AND RADIO. VISIT OF BRITISH TEAM. Fred W. Brown, president of the Arapuni Rugby Football Club, writes: "Re broadcasting of British Rugby matches during the coming tour. The Arapuni Rugby Football Club views with indignation the action of the New Zealand Rugby Union in forbidding the broadcasting of these matches, and considers that this action is most unfair to country clubs and to endless enhusiasts throughout the country. We consider that this course of action savours of greed, and that the reason of the probi-
bition, as reported In Mr. S. S. Dean s motion, is very weak and beside the real point. The Arapunl Club, therefore, invites all clubs, sub-unions and unions to materially express their dissatisfaction with the action of the Management Committee of the N.Z.R. U. in this matter. OPOTIKI UNITED CLUB. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) OPOTIKI, this day. The annual meeting of the United Country Football Club was held on Saturday night, the president, Mr. Chas. Gordon, occupying the chair. The r ? p ° r , ? n n balance-sheet showed the club had had a very successful year, both on the field ana financially. . Officers were elected as follows. President, Mr. C. Gordon; joint secretaries. Messrs. A. Gordon and E. Maekay ; patron. Mr. M.' Stevenson ; hon. surgeons, Drs. Budd and Candy; management committee, Messrs. F. J. Short, A. Gordon. C. Black, D. Marjoribanks, I-. Gordon. B. Mackav, and J. Craig: delegates to Opotlki Rugby Union, Messrs. F. .T. Short and C. Black: junior managers. Messrs. A. Gordon and F. Appleton: senior selector, Mr. C. Black : club captain, Mr. C. Black. On the motion of Mr. L. Gordon th.e meeting decided that it be a recommendation to the Opotiki Rugby Union that there be three rep. selectors. Mr. H. Hark.jns was made a life member of the club. The following trophies were offered for competition for the coming season:—F. J. Short, most improved junior player; C. Gordon, most improved colt player; F. Appleton, • most Improved junior place-kicker; »C. Black, most improved senior player.
