NO IMPROVED DEMAND. VALUES LOWER FOR ALL CLASSES. The Loan and Mercantile Agency, Co., Ltd., reports;— To-day at our weekly Westfield fat stock market beef was penned in average numbers, and there was no improvement in demand, rmd values were again lower for all classes. Extra choice ox sold to 37/ per 1001b; choice and prime ox, 34/ to 36/; ordinary and plain ox 31/ to 33/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 31/ to *33/; ordinary cow beef, 2S/ to 30/; heavy £14 to £15 5/ (no extra heavies penned); lighter, £12 10/ to £13 17/6; light, £11 to £12 7/G; unfinished and small, £9 to £10 15/; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £10/ to £11 15/; heavy, £8 15/ to £9 17/6; lighter, £7 5/ to £8 10/; light, £6 to £7 2/6; other cows, £4 10/ to £5 17/6.
Messrs. Alfred Buckland and Sons, Ltd., report:—To-day at our weekly Westfield fat stock market we penned beef to the number of 443 head, as compared with 400 head at last Wednesday's market, comprising 283 steers, 160 cows and heifers. Quality generally was first-class, as was the case last week. The~demand was not strong, and values again repeated. Extra choice ox sold to £1 17/ per 1001b; choice and prime ox, £ 1 14/ to £ 1 16/; ordinary and plain ox, £.1 12/ to £1 13/6; prime young cow and heifer beef, £1 10/ to £1 13/; ordinary cow beef, £13/ to £1 9/; extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £14 15/ to £15 10/; heavy, £13 10/ to £14 12/6; lighter, £12 15/ to £13 10/; light, £11 to. £12 12/6; unfinished and small, £8 10/ to £10 17/0; extra heavv prime young cows and heifers, £10 to £11 5/; heavy, £8 10/ to £9 17/6; lighter, £11 to £8 7/6; other cows, £4 10/ to £6 17/6.
Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report: At our weekly Westfield fat stock sale to-day we offered ox beef in well up to average numbers, with only a moderate portion of heavy sorts. The demand was again slack, and a further sag in values took place. Cow and heifer beef was also offered in well up to usual numbers, with the quality good. Competition was not keeu, and values were again easier. Extra choice ox sold to 37/ per 1001b; choice and prime ox, 34/ to 36/; ordinary and plain ox, 32/ to 34/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 29/ to 31/; ordinary cow beef, 22/ to 26/; extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £12 7/6 to £14 12/6; lighter. £11 12/6 to £12 5/; light prime, £9 12/6 to £10 10/; extra heavv prime young cows and heifers, £10 5/ to £12 17/6; heavy, £8 5/ to £10; lighter, £6 15/ to £7 7/6; other tillable | cows, £5 7/6 to £6 2/6.
