LAWN TENNIS.
AUCKLAND REP. TEAM.
TO PLAY AUSTRALIANS.
SELECTION FROM. LADDER
No definite selection has yet been made for an Auckland team to play the visiting Australian tennis players, who will be in this city on February 29, but it is understood that the team will be chosen from the five leading players on the local men's ladder. These are: A. C. Stedman, E. L. Bartlcet, N. G. Sturt, Rowlands and M. M. Morrison. It is possible that leading players from other parts of the province will be considered, but no decision has as yet been made by the Selection Committee. TO-DAY'S GAMES POSTPONED. Another wet week-end has set the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association's inter-club competitions back again, and the committee controlling the contests is finding an unexpectedly large number left to be played off near the close of the season. Wet weather interfered with the contests for the first few weeks of the season, and several rainy Saturdays during the past three months caused further complications. It was regarded yesterday as definite that Stanley Street courts would be unplayable 'this afternoon, but this morning's showers put even the chip courts in the suburbs out of commission. Shortly after midday it -was thought that the chip' courts would dry sufficiently* but players had then been notified of the postponement of contests.
