SWIMMING CHAMPION.
INVITATION" TO BRIDSON.
PROPOSED AUSTRALIAN TOUR,
An official invitation for Gordon Bridson, the New Zealand swimming champion over all distances, to visit Australia, has been sent to Mr. Baxter O'Neill, the secretary of the. New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association, by the Australian Association. The invitation was communicated to Bridson this morning by Mr. 11. Moore, the secretary of the Auckland Centre, and the champion is to inform Mr. Moore during the weekend whether he is able to make the trip. The invitation is for Bridson to arrive in Australia at the end of the present mont h, an d the tour will extend over six or eight weeks. At the recent New Zealand championship meeting at Greymouth Bridson won every free-style event from the 100 yds to the mile. He is the holder of the New Zealand records for 220 yds, 440 yds and 880 yds.
