BEST MANAGED OF ALL.
SOUTHLAND'S ROYAL SHOW. DONATION OF £500 FROM PROFITS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent..* WELLINGTON, Friday. Mr. W. Perry, president of the Royal Agricultural Society, said at to-day's meeting of the council that the recent Royal Show in Invercargill was the bestconducted Royal Show that had been held in New Zealand, and it clearly showed how thoroughly the arrangements of the directors of the Southland Agricultural and Pastoral Association had been made and carried out. He hoped that all future Royal shows would aim at the high standard set in Invercargill. Mr. A. M. Weir, vice-president of the Southland association handed to the council a donation of £500 to the funds of the "society on behalf of his association. He said that the Royal Show in Invercargill had been a financial success, and that his association had decided to make this donation out of the profits. He thought that a basis for future donations shouljl be drawn up, so that agricultural and pastoral associations holding the Royal Show would have some idea of what was expected of them. The holding of the Royal Show in a town considerably increased the income of the association holding the show, and he | thought that the Royal Agricultural Society should be recompensed.
