FATAL CAR SMASH.

' LIGHTS FAIL AT BEND. . MAORI KILLED OUTRIGHT. DRIVER'S BACK INJURED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WAIROA (H. 8.), this day. A serious motor accident occurred at Tarewa Hill, near Morere, late last night when a car driven by Mr. Tom Dennis, a well-known Maori All Black footballer, with three passengers, went over a bank through the lights failing when the car was going round a bend. The car rolled two chains through a fence, and .a middle-aged Maori, Teddy Nepia, was killed outright. | Two women passengers escaped with cuts on their legs. Dennis was sent to hospital suffering from injuries to his back.
