Viceroy Of India Reaches Bombay. GREAT PARADE OF TROOPS.
PET/FIT, January 15. Stringent police precautions marked the arrival at Bombay to-day of the Viceroy, Lord Irwin, and Lady Irwin. It was strictly private, only the principal Government officials being present besides the Governor, Sir Frederick Sykes, and Lady Sykes. For the past three days and nights the entire line of railway between Delhi and Bombay—a distance of 865 miles —had been intensively guarded. Large crowds of people welcomed the Viceroy as he drove from the station to Government House. There was a great parade of troops.
